Choice of jurisdiction and forum shopping: Spoilt for choice?

Choice of jurisdiction and forum shopping: Spoilt for choice?

This webinar was delivered live on Thursday 6th August 2020. It was chaired by Jason Walker (Australia). The panel of speakers were Tim Amos QC (England), Anita Chan QC (New Zealand), Jeremy SK Chan (Hong Kong) and Andrew Sriro (Indonesia)

Forum shopping” has traditionally been a dirty word/doublet in the English jurisdiction.  But that attitude has now to be revisited/revised completely in the light of the recent decision of the UK Supreme Court in Villiers [2020] UKSC 30.

During the webinar, Tim Amos QC analysed Villiers and all of the panellists addressed the legal and practical considerations arising from choice of forum issues in their jurisdictions, using a scenario developed for this presentation.
