In this article, the authors explore California substantive and procedural law as it relates to child custody relocation cases. The procedure for obtaining the child’s input, and the weight of that input, are also addressed, as are the roles of mediators and child custody evaluators. The authors conclude with a discussion of recent and anticipated developments concerning the relocation issue.
