IAML South African Studentship Winner

Posted: 18 Oct 2013

IAML is very pleased to report that the recipient of the second IAML South African Travel Studentship is Wela Mlokoti, from the University of Capetown.

Wela (pictured right) sounds like a very positive, wonderful and talented young woman. Her winning essay is on surrogacy and is impressive in terms of its deep topicality, intellectual rigor, tone and quality of writing.  Wela comes with the wholehearted and enthusiastic recommendation of the Dean and others from her Law School.  Her essay may be accessed through the link below.

Wela has expressed a preference for a studentship in either the US or the UK (3 weeks in June/July 2014) and IAML is currently seeking potential hosts and sponsors.  Click here to read a letter from IAML Vice President, Anita Chan, asking Fellows to consider either hosting or sponsoring a student.

IAML is delighted that a candidate of such outstanding ability has won the second South African Travel Studentship.  The award underlines the importance of attracting the most talented young lawyers to international family law.
