Winner Announced: IAFL European Chapter Young Lawyers Award 2019

The seventh IAFL European Chapter Annual Award for Young Family Lawyers has been awarded to Lenka Válková. This year’s entrants were asked to write a composition on the subject of ‘The Commmission proposal to review the Brussels II Revised regulation’.
The judging panel made up of IAFL Fellows Alexandre Boiché (France), Marie Baronin von Maydell (Germany) and Sandra Verburgt (Netherlands), were impressed by the excellent submissions that they reviewed from eligible candidates throughout Europe. The winning entry was written by Lenka Válková, and the two runners up were Sara Fusté (Spain) and Justyna Gumuła-Kędracka (Poland).

Lenka, Sara and Justyna all attended the IAFL Introduction to International Family Law Conference in Milan in March 2019 where their prizes were awarded; €1,000 to Lenka and €500 to both Sara and Justyna. Their travel, accommodation and conference registration costs were all met by IAFL European Chapter. During the conference Lenka also had the opportunity to present her paper.
The topic for the European Chapter Young Lawyers Award 2020 will be publicised shortly. Participation in this competition provides an excellent opportunity for any young family lawyer wishing to gain acknowledged expertise in the field of international family law.
