NYC Meeting

Posted: 2 Jun 2014 by Cheryl Hepfer

Congratulations to Sylvia Goldschmidt, Jim Stoffman, and the USA and Canadian Chapters for a very successful meeting at the Marriott Essex House Hotel New York City.  The meeting began with The Hague Symposium, chaired by Nancy Zalusky Berg, Carolina Marin Pedreno and Katharine Maddox.  We were fortunate to have Christophe Bernasconi, Diana Bryant and Ambassador Susan Jacobs as speakers.  We held our first Past President's Council Breakfast for the USA Chapter, which provided an opportunity for the Chapter's leadership to reflect on what has been successful in the past, and to provide upcoming leadership with suggestions and ideas for future meetings.

The Education Programs were first-rate, and we are grateful to Tom Wolfrum, Sally Oldham and Arnie Rutkin for their hard work and selection of speakers.  We all enjoyed the collegiality, tours, and events that had been planned.  The Welcome Reception, always a highlight of the meetings, provided all of us with the opportunity to see old friends and meet first-timers, who were attending their first meeting.   So much to do in NYC - and so little time!  Fortunately for the merchants, many of our Fellows and their guests found time to do some shopping!

With all that was happening, many committees found time to meet to continue on with their good work.

We concluded the meeting with a survivor's trip to Church to hear fabulous Gospel singers, and then had some wonderful soul food at the Cotton Club.  It's always difficult to say goodbye to our friends, but the knowledge that many of us will see each other again in Jerusalem in a few short months makes the parting a bit easier!
