Mr Justice Ryder appointed to Court of Appeal

The Queen of England has approved the appointment of former IAML Fellow Mr Justice (Ernest) Ryder to the English Court of Appeal.
Mr Justice Ryder was called to the Bar, Gray's Inn, in 1981 and appointed Queen's Counsel in 1997; an Asst Recorder from 1997 to 2000; a Recorder from 2000 to 2004; and a Deputy High Court Judge from 2001 to 2004. He was Counsel to the North Wales Tribunal of Inquiry, 1996–99. He was appointed a Judge of the High Court of Justice, Family Division, on 4 May 2004. He was a Family Division Liaison Judge for the Northern Circuit until he became Presiding Judge, Northern Circuit, in 2010. He has been Judge in Charge of Modernisation of Family Justice, since 2011. He was a Fellow of the IAML from December 2003 until September 2010.
