Profile
Margaret Swain (Peggy) has been in private practice since 1987, with a focus on adoption, guardianship and ART law. She is the Director of AAARTA and a long-standing Fellow and former Board member of the American Academy of Adoption Attorneys, a founding member of the Legal Professional Group of ASRM, a member of the Family Law ART committee of the ABA and the LGBT Bar Association and the Family Law Institute. Peggy is an invited observer to the Uniform Law Commission’s Drafting Committee to Revise the Uniform Parentage Act. Ms. Swain has authored a number of textbook chapters, is a frequent lecturer, and has taught as adjunct faculty at the University of Baltimore School of Law. In 2008, she was recognized for her advocacy on behalf of adoptive families, birth parents and children by the national Congressional Coalition on Adoption Institute, and honored as an "Angel in Adoption".
