The IAFL Introduction to European Family Law Conference took place at the Aristotle University Research Dissemination
Center (KEDEA), University Campus, Thessaloniki on Wednesday 17th and 18th April 2024.
This one and half day conference, organised in collaboration with the Law School of Aristotle University, was aimed at family lawyers who practice in European Chapter jurisdictions and who are considering applying for fellowship of the Academy.
The education program was organised by Dr Konstantinos Rokas (Greece) and European Chapter Vice President, Alice Meier-Bourdeau.
Marie Vautravers, Secretary of the European Judicial Network (EJN) in Civil and Commercial Matters gave a presentation on the EJN and the new EU Commission Proposal on protection of adults. Sessions included: Greece's legislation on same-sex marriage; pre and post nuptial agreements; update on ECHR case law adoption, separation and placement; subpoena and service of decisions; crossborder families in times of trouble and finally a presentation by the Winner of the 2024 Young Lawyers' Award, Olalla Garcia-Arreciado.
