Practised family law since admission to the Nova Scotia Bar in 1984. Past President, Nova Scotia Barristers Society and Canadian Bar Association (CBA) Nova Scotia; Past President, National Dalhousie Law Alumni Association; Past Chair, Bar Admissions Screening Committee; Past Chair, CBA Family Law Section; served on multiple committees including the Federal Advisory Committee on Family Law Issues and the Family Law Standards Committee, NS Bar Society. Lectured in Family Law and Legal Status of Women, Mount Saint Vincent University for over a decade and taught Family Law at Dalhousie University; frequent speaker, writer and commentator on family law issues. Trained in Collaborative Family Law. Graduate: Dalhousie University (LLB, 1983); Mount Allison University (BA Hons, Canadian Studies).
